Major road closures coming to the A339 and Fir Tree Lane

There are two major local road closures coming up:

  1. The A339 Basingstoke Road in the Parish of Greenham will be closed during the hours of 20.00 and 06.00 each night, between 18th and  29th October 2021, (road open over the weekend). The closure will be between its junction A339 Basingstoke Road and Albany Road Roundabout and its junction with A339 Basingstoke Road and Sandleford Roundabout. The alternative route for HGV’s affected, is via (from Basingstoke), A340 via Tadley/Aldermaston, A4 Bath Rd into Newbury and vice versa. The alternative route for all other vehicles affected, is via Thornford Rd, Crookham Common Rd, Crookham Hill, Burys Bank Rd, Pinchington Lane onto A339 and vice versa. The purpose of this closure is for the felling of trees suffering with Ash dieback disease.Residential access will be maintained throughout and the diversion will be signed on site.   2. Fir Tree lane, Newbury will remain closed from  18th October to 12th November 2021, the closure will be from its junction with A4 London Road to its junction with Gaywood Drive. The alternative route for all vehicles affected, is via London Rd (A4), Turnpike Road, and vice versa. The purpose of this closure is so SGN can divert the gas main from its current location. Residential access will be maintained throughout and the diversion will be signed on site. Please Note: Blue light access will not be permissible northbound along this section of carriageway.
