Local sporting fixtures this weekend

After last weekend’s washout courtesy of Storm Dennis, local teams are hoping for better luck this weekend.

Football

Second in the league Thatcham make the long journey West as they face bottom of the table Barnstaple Town.

Hungerford were one of the only teams to play last weekend, where they drew 1-1 away at Tonbridge Angels. This Saturday they face Braintree Town at Bulpit Lane, kick off is at 3.00

In the Wilts Senior league premier, Kintbury host Purton, kick off is at 2.15

Tadley Calleva head down to the South coast for a match against Christchurch. 

In the Championship, Reading are away to second in the league Leeds, lick of is at 3.00.

Rugby

There are no local matches this weekend. You can catch the Six Nations updates live on the show from 3.00. 

Newbury Ladies have a home match against Teddington Antlers on Sunday at Monks Lane.

Wheelchair Basketball

Thames Valley Kings remain unbeaten all season to go top of Division One South after beating London Titans last weekend, they easily led into the halftime break 40-12, in the second half they started slower, allowing the Titans a few more points. Once the Kings settled into the pace of the game they soon had no trouble overhauling the Titans to finish the match 69-43. Head coach Grant Barker said:

I am delighted with the win, the first half performance was some of the best basketball we have played all season.

The Kings are in Division 1 action on Sunday when they travel to Aylesbury to play the Aces. Tip off is at 1.00pm.
