Hungerford actor stars in Aladdin from 3rd December

The latest government Covid-19 announcements mean that the Corn Exchange’s panto, Aladdin, will go ahead from 3rd December until 3rd January.

Hungerford actor, George Olney is starring in the leading role. George was a child-actor when he first appeared in Corn Exchange pantos in 2006 and 2007.

He has since been trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London and Newbury. He has gone on to appear in many productions in London’s West End, across the UK and overseas. Highlights include roles in Grease, Saturday Night Fever, The Fiddler on the Roof and Starlight Express.

Aladdin co-director, local actor and comedian Adam Brown sought out George for this year’s panto.

The production is written and directed by local panto regulars, Clare Plested and Adam Brown.

On Kennet Radio’s Saturday Chatterday, this Saturday between 11am and 1pm, George Olney will be joined by fellow cast members Nikita Johal and Ben Barrow. They’ll be talking to Paul Walter about staging this year’s panto amid the pandemic.

The Corn Exchange is following all industry and government Covid-19 guidelines. The pantomime cast will be in a bubble with regular Covid testing, audience members will need to wear masks throughout the performance unless they are exempt, and there will be Perspex dividing screens between households. There is specially spaced-out seating in place. Audiences can book with confidence, knowing that if they are unwell with Covid-19 symptoms or having to self-isolate their tickets can be transferred, credited to their account or refunded.
