Former Park House student becomes Basingstoke FC manager

Dan Brownlie has been named Basingstoke Town FC’s new first team manager in the Southern League Division One South.

Brownlie, previously held the position as an assistant manager/coach to the previous 3 first team managers and many fans feel this appointment has been along time coming, and a welcome one.

Speaking exclusively to Kennet Radio Sport, Brownlie stated: “It’s a proud moment for me but there’s no time for bathing in glory of the appointment as it’s all hands on deck. We’ve got a lot of work to do to ensure we start getting the right results.”

A former student at Newbury’s Park House Secondary School and former Reading FC youth team player, the 31-year old replaces the departing Jason Bristow.

He continued: “I’ve no doubt that the boys will do everything they can to turn our fortunes round, but it comes from a foundation of hard work, endeavour and pride to wear our shirt. It’s going to be a long hard season, there’s no question about that, what that does do is simple, it adds greater importance to everyone playing their part.”

Dan Brownlie’s Basingstoke Town take on North Leigh at home in the FA Trophy. If you can’t get to the game, get the scores first on the Kennet Radio Saturday Sport’s Show – Tomorrow (and every Saturday!) 3pm – 6pm.
