Can you spare some items for asylum seekers staying locally?

Do you have a spare old mobile phone or charger hanging around? Or an unused football? Or some writing pads and pencils?

West Berkshire Action for Refugees are collecting items for asylum seekers who are staying locally.

They’ve got a pop-up shop at 50B Northbrook Street, Newbury RG14 1DT, where you can drop off donations. It’s next to Carter Jonas at the Clock Tower end of Northbrook Street.

Full and latest details of what items are required can be found on the Facebook page of West Berkshire Action for Refugees. The list includes clothes, toiletries, writing equipment, chess sets etc.

That Facebook page also lists the latest details of the opening times of the pop-up shop.

West Berkshire Action for Refugees is a grass roots organisation that came together in September 2015 as a way to facilitate the people of West Berkshire in helping in the refugee crisis.

Tons of aid donated by the people of West Berkshire has been sent, via the charity, to refugees in Calais, Dunkirk, Germany, Macedonia and many other places.
