Art teacher paints Climate Change mural in Kennet Centre

A semi-retired art teacher is painting a Climate Change mural in Newbury’s Kennet Centre.

Jackie Paynter approached the Kennet Centre management with the idea, and they agreed.

On a voluntary basis, she is now busy painting away in a roped-off area of the shopping mall.

Kennet Radio’s Paul Walter will be talking to Jackie about the mural and the motivation behind it, on Saturday Chatterday this Saturday between 11am and 1pm.

As our photos (above and below) show, Jackie is mixing images showing the beauty of the natural world with quotations about the impact of Climate Change. The quotes are from the likes of Sir David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg.

Jackie feels strongly about the dangers of climate change, and wants to use her art skills to get across her message, in an attractive way.
