Thatcham Tennis’ Thimbledom

The tennis was as hot as the weather as the crowds gathered to watch Thatcham Tennis Clubs annual tennis tournament at the memorial hall courts.

The event had that busy Wimbledon feel about it as the boot sale went on around the courts. The tennis was hard fought with lots of good rallies played.

In the men’s doubles Club Secretary Malcolm Hannington teamed up with his son wildcard entry Michael Hannington to win.

The ladies doubles played out with Club Chairperson Jan Stowell and Nikki Esson proving strong winners.

In the mixed doubles Jan Stowell teamed up with Robert Lynch to win with Carol Bosely and Malcolm Hannington runners up.

Prizes and medals were presented and a tennis club party was enjoyed after the competition.

Overall a very good day was had by all.
