In a Mother’s Day match up, Kings traveled away to Coventry to play the Coventry Wheelchair basketball Academy (CWBA ) 3rd team.

Kings Captain Wayne Burton opened up the scoring for Kings was the only scorer in a tough low scoring first quarter as the CWBA put on the pressure on Kings, however Kings were also putting on the same pressure as both team looked very evenly matched – it was not until 8th minute of the quarter that CWBA opened their scoring and pulled ahead by 2 points with the quarter ending Kings 2 – 4 CWBA.

A change in Kings tactics saw them become unstuck and lead to them out score CWBA in the next quarter with several of the Kings team players including Reece Barker, Joe Humphreys, Wayne Burton and Chris Nash all adding to the total. As the teams went to the bench for half time the score was Kings 18 – 8 CWBA.

The 3rd quarter was a closer game between the 2 team, but Kings continued to dominate with further points from Chris Nash, Reece Barker, Vickie Simmonds and Joe Humphreys with  Kings adding 10 points  to the  6 from CWBA to extend their lead to 28 – 14.

With one final quarter of 10 minutes left to play the CWBA team stormed into the quarter trying hard to catch up with Kings by adding 6 unanswered points, A CWBA comeback looked on the cards however Peter Rapley, Joe Humphreys, Chris Nash and Vickie Simmonds all had other ideas adding more to Kings tally. The game finished Kings 38 – 22 CWBA.

Wayne Burton stated after the game
