Music

What music do we play?

All sorts.

Our service is generally aimed at the over 40’s, so our music is mostly (though by no means exclusively) mainstream hits from the 1960s to the 1990s.  We have a good helping of current hits and hits from the 2000s and the 2010s as well.

In the evenings we broadcast a much wider variety of music, from classical to EDM, folk to country, blues to qwaito.

Do you like the music you hear on Kennet Radio?  Do you have suggestions for tunes that we should be playing?  Let us know by emailing [email protected].

Would you like a say in the music we play?
With the Kennet Radio Soundcheck you can have your way!

  • What’s your favourite song?
  • Who’s your favourite artist?
  • Do we play them enough?
  • Is there a song we keep playing that you never want to hear again?

Email The Soundcheck ([email protected]) to tell us the answers to these questions and any others you can think of!

Exclusive SoundChecker Mug

We are giving away an exclusive Kennet Radio SoundChecker mug every week to one lucky Sound Checker drawn at random from all the Sound Checkers who email us each week.  The winner will be announced on air every Friday.  What are you waiting for?!

We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for getting involved with the Kennet Radio Soundcheck.

New Music

As a radio station, music is very important to us.  And local music from local people is one of our passions – there is a huge amount of talent in the Kennet Radio area.

If you are a local band or performer and you would like us to play your music on Kennet Radio, we’d love to hear from you.  Drop an email to [email protected] and tell us about you, your band, and your music.  If you have a Electronic Press Kit (EPK), even better.  And let us have a broadcast quality copy of the tune(s) you’d like us to play*, and we’ll see what we can do to bring you and your music to a wider audience!

Rather than emailing audio files to us (which fills up email inboxes very fast!) we ask that you share your music with us via a link to a cloud-based sharing service such as Dropbox or Google Drive, or send them to us using the free  WeTransfer service – thank you.

Music formats

*We can play most common digital audio formats, including WAV, FLAC, AAC, and M4A, but our preferred format (because it is the most versatile and the easiest to manage from the point of view of file size) format to use is 320kbps MP3, CBR, stereo.

We can also play music provided to us on CD.

Unfortunately we cannot play music on vinyl, DRM-protected digital music, and M4P format from Apple/iTunes.

The Legal Stuff

Boring but very important, so please read it!

You further represent, warrant and undertake that you are entitled to grant the rights to us and that you have obtained clearance and shall be responsible for any/all costs, royalties and expenses related to all third party rights necessary for the exploitation of any material provided to us and that you will will indemnify and hold harmless Kennet Community Radio against any claims arising from the use of the recording(s) provided to us.
